Abstract

This study aims to determine the higher order thinking skills of students in the XI grade on viruses at SMA Negeri 1 Stabat by using problem-based learning. The type of research is quasi-experimental research. The research design used was "pre-test and post-test with non-randomized groups" or the non-equivalent pretest control group design. The sampling method was carried out using the Random Sampling technique. The test given is a test of higher order thinking skills. The percentage of students who have higher order thinking skills in the very good category is 16.614, 66767%. Furthermore, 26.667% have higher order thinking skills in the good category; 30,000% have sufficient higher order thinking skills; 23.667% have higher order thinking skills which are categorized as lacking; and no one has the ability to think at a higher order with very less category. The analyzing indicator has the highest percentage of occurrence, namely 71.435%. Then, the appearance of the evaluating indicator is 70,000%, and the indicator with the lowest percentage of occurrences is creating, which is 33, 317%.
