IMPROVING STUDENTS ABILITY IN USING TRANSLATION METHOD TROUGH SIMPLE PAST TENSES GRAMMAR IN CLASS XI STUDENTS OF PRIVATE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF DHARMA PATRA PANGKALAN SUSU TA 2023/2024

Abstract

In learning something well,we need to listen,see and ask about it discuss it’s with someone else.Not only that,students need “do it”,forexample by describing something with their own way,showing examples,traying to apply the skills and do the task requires acquired knowledge.The problems studied in this research are (a) How increase students achievement by using the simple pas tenses method in learning english? (b) How the effect of learning with the simple past tenses method on student motivation? The purpose of this research is (a) To determine students understanding and achievement in Natural after studying English subject using the simple past tenses method, (b) Determine infuence on students motivation by using the simple past tenses method. Two cycles classroom action research design is used in this research.Each cycles consists of four stages namely: planning,observation,reflection and revision.The subject in this study are classn XI students of Dharma patra private vacation high scholl Pangkalan susu.The data obtained is in the form of a formative test result and observation sheets of teaching and learning activities.Based on the findings,it can be seen that student achievement increased from cycle II (65%) to cycle II (91%).That the conclusion of this study is that learning English using the simple past tenses method has a positive effect on student learning abilities.
